At Hannover Messe we highlight how the Internet of Things is shaping the way we work and live.
Digitalization, in particular the Internet of Things (IoT), is shaping our everyday lives. From modern-day essentials like smartphones or laptops, to traditional devices like cars and refrigerators, nearly everything we are surrounded with is connected to the digital world via sensors.
Digital transformation is not a tech-only topic anymore – it has become a fundamental part of our society. This is why it is important to use digitalization to work for a change for the better, eliminating innovation barriers within our schools, factories and mindsets.
As part of its G20 Presidency, Germany organized the first-ever meeting of the G20 Digital Ministers this April in Düsseldorf, Germany (“Digitalization: Policies for a Digital Future”). For the first time in history, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Brigitte Zypries, summoned the ministers for digitalization to discuss the current challenges of digital transformation for the biggest economies worldwide. The idea was to share best-practice policies on how to successfully promote new and innovative approaches to shaping the digital future of tomorrow.
The G20 Digital Ministers drew some very important conclusions. One of the key findings was to further shape digitalization at a global level to harness the potential for growth and employment, as well as promoting “digital networking for industrial value creation.” Taking action at the highest level is essential. Entire industries have already started their own digital transformation thanks to the rapidly growing network of “Things” and sensors connected to the Internet.
A visit to Hannover Messe will shed light on the growing role digital transformation has within Germany, one of the biggest industrial nations. The world’s largest trade show for industrial technologies will open its doors on April 24 to present the advantages of Industry 4.0 to more than 200,000 anticipated visitors.
At our booth we will demonstrate how IoT software solutions can change entire sectors of industry. Together with our innovation partners, we will be showcasing our joint IoT solutions for Industry 4.0 – in keeping with the motto of “Made in Digital Germany.” The watchword in all these cases is “co-innovation.” Our message is “Unleash your Vision #withoutcompromise,” meaning that even traditional, conventional companies can be among the winners in the digital universe. With our recent acquisition of Cumolocity, Software AG not only completes its portfolio of IoT software services, we will now be able to focus even more on Operational Technology (OT), which means on the functions of Things, allowing our customers to develop new potential for their business models.
The ongoing process of digitalization represents the fastest and most comprehensive wave of change in the IT industry. The Industrial Internet – or Industry 4.0 – is becoming the economic engine of the future. The Internet of Things is the new digital reality, upon which companies will have to build their business models. It offers endless possibilities, but also challenges which traditional companies have to overcome. This is why it will be important to get ready for the digital age in order to remain competitive. Visit us in Hannover next week to experience first-hand all the fascinating possibilities that the Internet of Things has to offer.
